En Espagne la centrale Alvarado I dans la r\u00e9gion de Badajoz est en service depuis l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 dernier, celle de Palma del Rio II dans la r\u00e9gion de Cordoba sera op\u00e9rationnelle au printemps 2010. Les travaux de construction de la troisi\u00e8me centrale espagnole, Majadas de Tietar dans la r\u00e9gion de Caceres, d&rsquo;une puissance de 50 MW viennent de d\u00e9marrer, pour une mise en service programm\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 2010. Toutes ces unit\u00e9s reposent sur la concentration des rayons du soleil, \u00e0 l&rsquo;aide de miroirs paraboliques orientables, sur un tube de quartz situ\u00e9 dans la focale et dans lequel circule un fluide caloporteur (FIG.). La nouvelle usine sur 135 hectares poss\u00e8dera 192000 miroirs align\u00e9s sur 77 km de long. Elle repr\u00e9sente un investissement de 237 millions d&rsquo;euros.
