Des roches comme la p\u00e9ridotite, la dunite et autres, r\u00e9agir avec le CO2 pour former des carbonates. Des g\u00e9ologues am\u00e9ricains viennent d&rsquo;\u00e9tablir une carte d\u00e9taill\u00e9e des Etats-Unis pour recenser ces gisements de roches particuli\u00e8rement abondants dans les Etats de l&rsquo;Ouest (Californie, Oregon, Washington) et dans l&rsquo;Est tout au long de la ceinture des Appalaches de Terre-Neuve \u00e0 l&rsquo;Alabama (FIG.I, points rouges sur la carte). <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/usaultramaficrocksmapb1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"330\" alt=\"Usaultramaficrocksmapb\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/usaultramaficrocksmapb.jpg\" width=\"480\"  \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Certains de ces min\u00e9raux comme la Serpentine et l&rsquo;Olivine par exemple r\u00e9agissent avec le CO2 pour former du carbonate de magn\u00e9sium (FIG.II)<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/co2mineralisationultramaficrock1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"210\" alt=\"Co2mineralisationultramaficrock\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/co2mineralisationultramaficrock.jpg\" width=\"480\"  \/><\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Des essais de s\u00e9questration min\u00e9rale de CO2 dans ce genre de gisements, par injection d&rsquo;eau charg\u00e9e de CO2, sont en cours de r\u00e9alisation dans le monde afin d&rsquo;\u00e9valuer la faisabilit\u00e9 industrielle d&rsquo;un tel proc\u00e9d\u00e9. L&rsquo;eau qui fait exploser la roche, doit permettre en la fracturant, d&rsquo;obtenir une r\u00e9action&nbsp; suffisamment rapide de min\u00e9ralisation du CO2.
