Ils placent tout d&rsquo;abord leur action dans le cadre des objectifs de r\u00e9duction vigoureuse des \u00e9missions de CO2 au niveau de 1990 en 2020 et d&rsquo;une r\u00e9duction suppl\u00e9mentaire de 80% en 2050. La traduction de ces objectifs dans le mix \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique de production d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 am\u00e9ricain, r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par une analyse appel\u00e9e PRISM (FIG.), implique un accroissement des parts du nucl\u00e9aire dans le mix de 20% \u00e0 40% entre aujourd&rsquo;hui et 2050. Dans ce sc\u00e9nario, <u>pour la premi\u00e8re fois aux Etats-Unis<\/u>, il est affirm\u00e9 par un organisme officiel que malgr\u00e9 l&rsquo;accroissement des \u00e9nergies renouvelables, malgr\u00e9 la disponibilit\u00e9 des moyens de capture et de stockage du CO2 (CCS) pour 10$ la tonne de CO2, il sera indispensable de faire cro\u00eetre la part d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 d&rsquo;origine nucl\u00e9aire au cours du XXI\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. Les temps changent!<\/p>\n<p>. <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/eprinuclearrda.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/clabedan.typepad.com\/photos\/uncategorized\/2009\/02\/19\/eprinuclearrda_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"293\" alt=\"Eprinuclearrda_2\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/eprinuclearrda_2.jpg\" width=\"480\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Ce sc\u00e9nario recommande d&rsquo;accro\u00eetre d&rsquo;ici \u00e0 2020 la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 nucl\u00e9aire aux Etats-Unis de 20%, ce qui demande d&rsquo;installer 20 GWe de puissance \u00e9lectrique suppl\u00e9mentaire, pour r\u00e9duire les \u00e9missions de CO2 des \u00e9nergies primaires de 10%. Puis d&rsquo;accro\u00eetre cette puissance install\u00e9e de 200% d&rsquo;ici \u00e0 2050.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Dans un tel sch\u00e9ma la puissance install\u00e9e des r\u00e9acteurs \u00e0 eau l\u00e9g\u00e8re de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration (ALWR) augmenterait r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement jusqu&rsquo;en 2070, accompagnant la disparition des r\u00e9acteurs (LWR) de la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente (FIG.II). Puis arriverait la phase commerciale des r\u00e9acteurs \u00e0 neutrons rapides qui prendrait le relais (Fast Reactors). Par ce cadencement l&rsquo;INL donne le temps (plusieurs d\u00e9cennies) de mettre au point les r\u00e9acteurs surg\u00e9n\u00e9rateurs qui permettraient d&rsquo;utiliser les combustibles usag\u00e9s de la g\u00e9n\u00e9ration pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. La consommation d&rsquo;Uranium passerait par un maximum de 50 mille tonnes par an entre 2060 et 2080.<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/eprinuclearrdb1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"290\" alt=\"Eprinuclearrdb\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/eprinuclearrdb.jpg\" width=\"480\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Dans son Plan Strat\u00e9gique de Recherche l&rsquo;EPRI insiste sur quelques points fondamentaux que sont la dur\u00e9e de vie des r\u00e9acteurs \u00e0 eau l\u00e9g\u00e8re de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration qui doit \u00eatre d\u00e9finie pour 60 ans puis port\u00e9e \u00e0 80 ans. Il souligne \u00e9galement toute l&rsquo;importance de la gestion du combustible, domaine o\u00f9 les Etats-Unis sont tr\u00e8s en retard, jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;utilisation des d\u00e9chets ultimes dans des r\u00e9acteurs \u00e0 neutrons rapides. Enfin il introduit l&rsquo;hypoth\u00e8se de r\u00e9acteurs \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature \u00e0 refroidissement gazeux qui seraient des sources de chaleur pour les process et permettraient de produire de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne sans d\u00e9gagement de CO2.
