Apr\u00e8s le jaillissement spontan\u00e9 de la ressource il est fait appel \u00e0 l&#039;injection d&#039;eau dans le r\u00e9servoir (r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration secondaire), puis s&#039;il est disponible, l&#039;utilisation de gaz carbonique permet une r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration tertiaire (Enhanced Oil Recovery ou EOR). Enfin les sp\u00e9cialistes de ces techniques parlent maintenant de <span style=\"color: #0000bf\"><strong>r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration quaternaire<\/strong><\/span> qui concerne l&#039;extraction par le CO2 de p\u00e9trole contenu dans la porosit\u00e9 de roches sous-jacentes des <span style=\"color: #0000bf\"><strong>&quot;Residual Oil Zones&quot; ou ROZ<\/strong><\/span> \u00e0 l&#039;interface entre le r\u00e9servoir principal et les salines inf\u00e9rieures (FIG.I projection cercl\u00e9e de rouge). Le DOE et divers consultants am\u00e9ricains estiment que, gr\u00e2ce aux extractions quaternaires en particulier, ce sont encore pr\u00e8s de 12 milliards de barils qui seront extraits du sol durant les 30 ou 50 ans \u00e0 venir. Compte tenu des technologies actuelles disponibles il reste un volume de p\u00e9trole \u00e9gal au tiers de la ressource d\u00e9j\u00e0 extraite \u00e0 r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer. Mais pour cela il faudra disposer de tr\u00e8s grandes quantit\u00e9s de CO2. En effet sur la base de <span style=\"color: #0000bf\"><strong>1,5 \u00e0 2 barils de brut extraits par tonne de CO2<\/strong><\/span>, il faudra <span style=\"color: #0000bf\"><strong>injecter et s\u00e9questrer 6 \u00e0 8 milliards de tonnes de CO2<\/strong><\/span>. De quoi \u00e0 allonger encore et encore la queue de la courbe de Hubbert de ce large champ.<\/p>\n<p>L&#039;\u00e9quation \u00e9conomique semble \u00e0 ce jour limpide: pour quelques dizaines de dollars \u00e0 payer pour une tonne de CO2 ce sont pr\u00e8s de deux barils de p\u00e9trole \u00e0 plus de 100 dollars le baril qui vont \u00eatre r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9s. Voila une \u00e9quation qui va dynamiser le captage du CO2 aux \u00c9tats-Unis et dans d&#039;autres r\u00e9gions p\u00e9trolif\u00e8res dans le monde.<\/p>\n<p>Le MIT pr\u00e9conise la construction d&#039;un large r\u00e9seau de pipelines de CO2 en forme de fer \u00e0 cheval qui relierait les infrastructures am\u00e9ricaines existantes (FIG.III). Le DOE pr\u00e9conise un r\u00e9seau encore plus dense reliant les grandes centrales au charbon du Centre-Est \u00e0 cette amorce d&#039;infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #bf00bf\"><strong>FIG.III &#8211; R\u00e9seau de pipelines transportant du CO2 aux Etats-Unis.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e2014e88bb69a4970d-pi.jpg\"> <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/clabedan.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d83451b18369e20154329b32d5970c-pi\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"EOR-CO2-pipeline2\" class=\"asset  asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451b18369e20154329b32d5970c\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20154329b32d5970c-450wi.jpg\" style=\"width: 450px\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Ces consid\u00e9rations montrent combien l&#039;\u00e9quation du captage et de la s\u00e9questration du CO2 peut passer d&#039;un concept plut\u00f4t farfelu, tr\u00e8s vaguement \u00e9colo, consommant de l&#039;\u00e9nergie, \u00e0 une \u00e9quation beaucoup plus r\u00e9aliste permettant \u00e0 partir de charbon et de biomasse par exemple de d\u00e9finir des centrales \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 gaz\u00e9ification int\u00e9gr\u00e9e (IGCC) dont le CO2 r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9 sera vendu aux p\u00e9troliers pour r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer du p\u00e9trole. L&#039;enjeu \u00e9conomique final avec un prix du baril de p\u00e9trole au-dessus des 100 dollars, rend l&#039;ensemble de la fili\u00e8re \u00e9conomiquement tr\u00e8s rentable. La probabilit\u00e9 d&#039;une telle r\u00e9alisation dans les d\u00e9cennies \u00e0 venir est donc \u00e9lev\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Ces donn\u00e9es illustrent <a href=\"https:\/\/pikespeakeconomicsclub.com\/CMS\/PPEC\/files\/Nehring%20-%20Peak%20Oil.ppt\" target=\"_blank\">les propos de Richard Nehring<\/a> qui soulignent l&#039;importance g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement sous-estim\u00e9e de la croissance du taux de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration du p\u00e9trole, &quot;recovery growth&quot;, sur l&#039;estimation des ressources ultimes de p\u00e9trole conventionnel.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;Pour acc\u00e9der \u00e0 ces informations on pourra par exemple se reporter au <a href=\"http:\/\/web.mit.edu\/mitei\/docs\/reports\/eor-css\/110510_EOR_Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">rapport du MIT energy initiative et du Bureau of Economic Geology<\/a> issu d&#039;un symposium tenu \u00e0 Austin en Juillet 2010. Le papier de<span style=\"color: #0000bf\"><strong> Kuuskraa<\/strong><\/span> (page 151), pr\u00e9sident d&#039;ARI, est particuli\u00e8rement clair est convaincant. Il pr\u00e9voit une contribution de ces technologies aux U.S.A. pouvant repr\u00e9senter des productions de p\u00e9trole pouvant aller jusqu&#039;\u00e0 2,8 millions de barils\/jour en 2030.
