Rappelons tout d&rsquo;abord qu&rsquo;elles ne sont pas toutes et de loin, aussi polluantes les unes que les autres. A c\u00f4t\u00e9 d&rsquo;une centrale au lignite ou au charbon grecque du Groupe PCC qui g\u00e9n\u00e8re en moyenne 1333 kg de CO2 par MWh, il existe une centrale \u00e0 gaz \u00e0 cycle combin\u00e9, du m\u00eame Groupe, sur le site de Lavriou, qui g\u00e9n\u00e8re 350 kg de CO2 par MWh. Il existe un facteur 4 entre le pire et le meilleur au sein de la m\u00eame entreprise. Les centrales \u00e0 gaz \u00e0 cycle combin\u00e9 et eau super critique permettent de r\u00e9aliser des progr\u00e8s d\u00e9cisifs dans les \u00e9missions de CO2. Il est de plus possible d&rsquo;imaginer de r\u00e9aliser des progr\u00e8s suppl\u00e9mentaires en couplant une telle centrale \u00e0 une unit\u00e9 de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de vapeur de type solaire thermique. C&rsquo;est ce que l&rsquo;EPRI en Californie a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00e9tudier.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;L&rsquo;EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute) a annonc\u00e9 qu&rsquo;elle allait apporter son aide \u00e0 deux \u00e9lectriciens <strong><span style=\"color: #000099\">Dynegy <\/span><\/strong>et<strong><span style=\"color: #000099\"> NV Energy<\/span><\/strong>, pour mener des \u00e9tudes de d\u00e9monstration sur le couplage d&rsquo;une centrale \u00e0 gaz ou d&rsquo;une centrale au charbon existante, avec une unit\u00e9 de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie de type solaire thermique. La transformation de ces usines en hybrides solaire et thermique \u00e0 flamme permet de r\u00e9duire les investissements n\u00e9cessaires puisque toute la partie g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de courant et acheminement est commune. De plus la partie thermique solaire apporte un surcroit d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie bienvenu au moment du pic d&rsquo;appel de courant, lorsque toutes les unit\u00e9s de conditionnement d&rsquo;air tournent \u00e0 fond. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Dans une r\u00e9gion \u00e0 fort ensoleillement comme l&rsquo;Arizona ou la r\u00e9gion de Las Vegas ou vont \u00eatre conduits les essais industriels, l&rsquo;ensoleillement annuel de l&rsquo;ordre de 2000 heures par an repr\u00e9sente 20% du temps total de fonctionnement de la centrale. Selon la puissance thermique associ\u00e9e \u00e0 celle de la centrale, on peut atteindre jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 20% d&rsquo;\u00e9conomies en combustible. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Il n&rsquo;est donc pas impossible d&rsquo;anticiper qu&rsquo;il existera des centrales \u00e9lectriques hybrides solaires et \u00e0 flamme qui g\u00e9n\u00e8reront moins de 300 kg de CO2 par MWh et consommant 80% du gaz utilis\u00e9 \u00e0 ce jour pour la m\u00eame puissance. De plus, un surdimensionnement de la partie solaire permettra d&rsquo;apporter un surcroit de puissance aux heures de pointes. Ces perfectionnements pourraient \u00eatre coupl\u00e9s avec une mont\u00e9e en temp\u00e9rature de la vapeur pour aller vers les <u>250 kg de CO2 g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s par MWh<\/u>.
