Il leur est donc impossible d&rsquo;optimiser leur plan de vol et de d\u00e9vier de leur route si la m\u00e9t\u00e9orologie varie en cours de trajet. Pour les seules compagnies a\u00e9riennes am\u00e9ricaines, d&rsquo;apr\u00e8s la Federal Aviation Administration (FAA),&nbsp; cette rigidit\u00e9 co\u00fbterait chaque ann\u00e9e l&rsquo;\u00e9quivalent de 79 millions de barils de k\u00e9ros\u00e8ne par an, soit une dizaine de milliards de dollars aux cours actuels du p\u00e9trole. Il pourrait exister une solution beaucoup plus flexible et \u00e9conomique: la navigation a\u00e9rienne par GPS satellitaire.<a href=\"http:\/\/clabedan.typepad.com\/photos\/uncategorized\/2008\/10\/13\/atr42limoges1.jpg\"><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;La FAA estime que de mettre en place un tel syst\u00e8me reviendrait \u00e0 35 milliards de dollars, dont 15 milliards \u00e0 la charge des compagnies a\u00e9riennes qui devraient faire \u00e9quiper tous les avions du syst\u00e8me GPS, pour 200 mille dollars chacun. La FAA attendait le vote d&rsquo;une ligne budg\u00e9taire de 6 mrds$ pour entamer ces travaux, mais le Congr\u00e8s am\u00e9ricain ne l&rsquo;a pas vot\u00e9e. La raison est simple, il existe dans chaque Etat am\u00e9ricain des centaines d&rsquo;aiguilleurs du ciel qui ne veulent pas perdre leur job et qui sont hostiles au projet. Le projet est donc repouss\u00e9 \u00e0 plus tard, apr\u00e8s les \u00e9lections, m\u00eame si certaines compagnies comme <span style=\"color: #3300cc\"><strong>Southwest Airlines<\/strong> <\/span>\u00e9quipe ses avions de GPS pour aider aux proc\u00e9dures d&rsquo;approches et d&rsquo;atterrissage.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; En Europe le guidage vertical <strong><span style=\"color: #3300cc\">EGNOS<\/span><\/strong> qui est un GPS am\u00e9lior\u00e9, avec une pr\u00e9cision de moins de deux m\u00e8tres contre 15 \u00e0 20 m\u00e8tre pour le GPS normal, est en cours de validation pour faciliter les proc\u00e9dures d&rsquo;approche et d&rsquo;atterrissage (FIG. essai sur l&rsquo;a\u00e9roport de Limoges). C&rsquo;est un timide premier pas vers le guidage satellitaire qui attendra Galileo. Ce n&rsquo;est donc pas pour demain, nos aiguilleurs du ciel peuvent dormir tranquilles et profiter de leurs avantages acquis de dure lutte, de perturbations r\u00e9guli\u00e8res du trafic.
