L&rsquo;atteinte de l&rsquo;objectif du CAFE en 12 ans correspond \u00e0 nombre de v\u00e9hicules constant \u00e0 une r\u00e9duction de consommation de 3,4 millions de barils\/jour d&rsquo;essence, soit de 4% par an. La croissance du parc automobile am\u00e9ricain suivant la croissance de population a \u00e9t\u00e9 de 1,7% par an. Il est donc possible de calculer une baisse de consommation d&rsquo;essence moyenne de 2,3% par an.
