En effet il est plus pr\u00e9coce de six semaines que le ma\u00efs et reste vert dans l&rsquo;Illinois jusqu&rsquo;au mois d&rsquo;octobre. Sa p\u00e9riode de croissance est donc comparable \u00e0 celle du switchgrass, mais il est beaucoup plus grand, ce qui le rend plus productif (Photo). Une r\u00e9colte tardive en D\u00e9cembre ou Janvier permet aux nutriments de retourner dans le sol, ce qui limite l&rsquo;utilisation de fertiliseurs.
