Les premiers r\u00e9sultats encourageants annonc\u00e9s par <span style=\"color: #3300cc\"><strong>Mariam Sticklen<\/strong> <\/span>de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 du Michigan, qui dirige un laboratoire en pointe sur ces sujets, sont un exemple des possibilit\u00e9s de ces techniques.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Pour d\u00e9composer les mat\u00e9riaux ligno cellulosiques en sucres il faut pr\u00e9alablement casser l&rsquo;armure de lignine. Pour cela les proc\u00e9d\u00e9s industriels font appel \u00e0 des r\u00e9actions d&rsquo;hydrolyse ou \u00e0 des traitements thermiques sous pression qui vont d\u00e9truire l&rsquo;enveloppe ligneuse, puis vont intervenir des enzymes qui vont casser les mat\u00e9riaux en sucres \u00e9l\u00e9mentaires. Toutes ces op\u00e9rations sont on\u00e9reuses, n\u00e9cessitent l&rsquo;achat d&rsquo;enzymes complexes et accroissent les investissements industriels, mettant ainsi en p\u00e9ril la rentabilit\u00e9 globale des projets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; L&rsquo;id\u00e9e de Mariam Sticklen est d&rsquo;acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer toutes ce \u00e9tapes en introduisant dans la plante le cocktail d&rsquo;enzymes n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 la d\u00e9gradation de la ligno cellulose. Elle a r\u00e9ussi par exemple \u00e0 cr\u00e9er un ma\u00efs g\u00e9n\u00e9tiquement modifi\u00e9 poss\u00e9dant trois enzymes, le Spartan Corn III. Un enzyme issu des sources chaudes casse les mat\u00e9riaux cellulosiques, un second issu d&rsquo;un champignon coupe ces fragments et paires de sucres, le troisi\u00e8me issu des microbes de l&rsquo;estomac des ruminants scinde ces paires de sucres en sucres \u00e9l\u00e9mentaires. Ces enzymes sont localis\u00e9s dans la feuille de la plante et plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment dans la vacuole pour \u00e9viter que les enzymes ne d\u00e9gradent leur h\u00f4te.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Avec un peu d&rsquo;imagination il est possible de concevoir que dans le futur, existeront des mat\u00e9riaux ligno cellulosiques aux propri\u00e9t\u00e9s optimis\u00e9es pour la production de biocarburants. Ce seront par exemple, des <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leblogenergie.com\/2008\/03\/un-essai-amrica.html\">switchgrass<\/a>, riches en celluloses et contenant les enzymes n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 leur conversion en sucres puis en alcool de type <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leblogenergie.com\/2007\/10\/le-biobutanol-u.html\">butanol<\/a>, miscible en toutes proportions \u00e0 l&rsquo;essence.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Malheureusement au nom de l&rsquo;obscurantisme de certains incomp\u00e9tents et de principes pr\u00e9cautionneux, ces innovations ne se feront pas en France. Il y a belle lurette que les semenciers sont partis faire leurs recherches ailleurs, en relation avec de jeunes chercheurs qui exp\u00e9rimentent et r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissent, sans se soucier de leur statut d&#8217;employ\u00e9 \u00e0 vie d&rsquo;un organisme nationalis\u00e9 et soi disant scientifique. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Le processus, quoiqu&rsquo;en disent les politiques, est malheureusement irr\u00e9versible.
