Le californien Omar Yaghi, de l&rsquo;UCLA, a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 synth\u00e9tiser des structures z\u00e9olitiques, <span style=\"color: #333333\"><strong>ZIF<\/strong><\/span> (zeolitic imidazolate frameworks) en utilisant les liaisons entre les m\u00e9taux de transition (Zn, Co) et les deux atomes d&rsquo;azote des d\u00e9riv\u00e9s h\u00e9t\u00e9rocycliques de l&rsquo;imidazole. L&rsquo;angle de 145\u00b0 form\u00e9 par les liaisons <strong>m\u00e9tal-imidazole-m\u00e9tal<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/clabedan.typepad.com\/photos\/uncategorized\/2008\/02\/16\/debusmethod1.gif\"><\/a>est tr\u00e8s proche de l&rsquo;angle <strong>Si-O-Si<\/strong> typique des z\u00e9olites. Yaghi et son \u00e9quipe, en jouant sur les substitutions de l&rsquo;h\u00e9t\u00e9rocycle et plus particuli\u00e8rement en introduisant une fonction nitrate sur le carbone situ\u00e9 entre les deux azotes de l&rsquo;imidazole, ont obtenu des compos\u00e9s organo m\u00e9talliques du Zinc \u00e0 structures z\u00e9olitiques fortement s\u00e9lectives au CO2.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Ces compos\u00e9s, d\u00e9crits dans la revue Nature du 15\/02\/2008, qui peuvent adsorber jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 80 fois leur volume de CO2 ouvrent une nouvelle voie \u00e0 la capture s\u00e9lective industrielle du CO2 \u00e0 partir de m\u00e9langes de gaz contenant du monoxyde de carbone ou de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne. C&rsquo;est le principe des proc\u00e9d\u00e9s dits de VPSA (Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption) utilis\u00e9s par Praxair ou Air Liquide pour s\u00e9parer l&rsquo;oxyg\u00e8ne de l&rsquo;air avec des z\u00e9olites. En jouant sur les pressions le CO2 pi\u00e9g\u00e9 peut \u00eatre ensuite d\u00e9sorb\u00e9 sous vide, r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9 et stock\u00e9 dans des structures g\u00e9ologiques ad&rsquo;hoc. La validation industrielle d&rsquo;une telle solution qui consisterait \u00e0 pi\u00e9ger le CO2 de gaz de combustion ou de r\u00e9action catalytique au travers de colonnes charg\u00e9es en ZIF suppose une longue \u00e9tude de s\u00e9lection des compos\u00e9s, de validation de leur stabilit\u00e9, de leur r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 l&rsquo;environnement et de leur vieillissement en cyclages.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Un des int\u00e9r\u00eats majeurs de ce type de proc\u00e9d\u00e9 r\u00e9side dans la r\u00e9duction des consommations d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie des proc\u00e9d\u00e9s de CCS (capture et stockage de CO2). En effet la capture de CO2 dans une centrale \u00e0 flamme par exemple, n\u00e9cessitera de consommer une partie de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie produite par la combustion du gaz ou du charbon. Plus faible sera cette part et moins on\u00e9reux sera le proc\u00e9d\u00e9. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Une unit\u00e9 pilote de l&rsquo;Air Liquide, de type VPSA, est en cours de test, sur le pilote de MEFOS \u00e0 Lulea en Su\u00e8de.
