C&#039;est une ancienne unit\u00e9 de production de bio\u00e9thanol reconvertie \u00e0 la production d&#039;isobutanol par utilisation d&#039;un cocktail d&#039;enzymes d\u00e9di\u00e9 et adaptation d&#039;une unit\u00e9 de s\u00e9paration de l&#039;alcool en C4 par d\u00e9cantation beaucoup plus \u00e9conomique en \u00e9nergie que la distillation de l&#039;\u00e9thanol. Dans un premier temps Gevo va vendre sa production \u00e0 Sasol Chemicals qui utilise l&#039;isobutanol comme solvant pour peintures, encres et autres produits de rev\u00eatements. GEVO en parall\u00e8le r\u00e9trofite une autre usine situ\u00e9e dans le Dakota du Sud avec pour objectif de pouvoir produire annuellement jusqu&#039;\u00e0 200 millions de litres d&#039;alcool. L&#039;objectif de cette Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 est de commercialiser autour de 1,2 milliard de litres d&#039;isobutanol en 2015 pour diverses applications dont celles mettant en \u0153uvre son produit de d\u00e9shydratation l&#039;isobutyl\u00e8ne \u00e0 la base de multiples additifs et carburants (isooctane, k\u00e9ros\u00e8ne) et autres interm\u00e9diaires \u00e0 la base de polym\u00e8res (PET).<\/p>\n<p>&#160;La ressource \u00e9tant limit\u00e9e, l&#039;industrie des biocarburants pour gagner plus, avance peu \u00e0 peu vers des produits de plus forte valeur ajout\u00e9e que celle de l&#039;\u00e9thanol ou des esters d&#039;acides gras. Un des objectifs imm\u00e9diats est de savoir produire du k\u00e9ros\u00e8ne &quot;bio&quot; pour l&#039;aviation civile qui devra, nous dit-on, ma\u00eetriser ses \u00e9missions de CO2&#8230;sauf si la Chine n&#039;est pas d&#039;accord. L&#039;autre objectif est la synth\u00e8se de polym\u00e8res &quot;bio&quot; pour l&#039;industrie alimentaire par exemple&#8230;formidable outil de marketing pour vendre de l&#039;eau au prix du vin&#8230;c&#039;est biblique. La voiture va devenir elle aussi de plus en plus&quot;bio&quot; et plus tard appara\u00eetront m\u00eame des pneumatiques &quot;bio&quot; &#8230;mais beaucoup plus chers que les produits traditionnels.
