De tels proc\u00e9d\u00e9s, devenus non rentables, avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 mis peu \u00e0 peu au rancard. Mais la nouvelle demande mondiale en lithium pour batteries va permettre \u00e0 ces proc\u00e9d\u00e9s de retrouver une nouvelle jeunesse. C&#039;est ainsi qu&#039;une entreprise mini\u00e8re australienne, <strong><span>Galaxy<\/span><\/strong>, vient d&#039;imaginer un projet d&#039;exploitation \u00e0 ciel ouvert de la mine du Mont Kattlin dans l&#039;ouest de l&#039;Australie qui devrait lui permettre d&#039;extraire 16 millions de tonnes de minerai pendant plus de 16 ans. Apr\u00e8s concentration en un minerai enrichi \u00e0 6% de Li2O, ce produit serait exp\u00e9di\u00e9 dans une usine appartenant \u00e0 Galaxy mais situ\u00e9e en Chine, \u00e0 Jiangsu, au Nord-ouest de Shanghai. Dans cette usine le lithium sera purifi\u00e9 par un proc\u00e9d\u00e9 classique au sulfate conduisant \u00e0 un carbonate de lithium de puret\u00e9 &gt; 99.5% (FIG.).<\/p>\n<p>&#160;<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20133ecc9ccae970b-pi.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Spodum\u00e8ne-Li2CO3-Galaxy\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451b18369e20133ecc9ccae970b \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20133ecc9ccae970b-450wi.jpg\" \/><\/a> <br \/>&#160;Dans un tel proc\u00e9d\u00e9 apr\u00e8s grillage, broyage et dissolution \u00e0 l&#039;acide sulfurique les divers \u00e9l\u00e9ment ind\u00e9sirables (Ca, Mg, Fe, Al) sont pr\u00e9cipit\u00e9s par la soude.
