Ce nouveau proc\u00e9d\u00e9, imagin\u00e9 et mis au point au Japon \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;exp\u00e9riences de laboratoires et sur pilote entre 1996 et 2000, fit ensuite l&rsquo;objet d&rsquo;une optimisation sur un pilote industriel aux Etats-Unis entre 2002 et 2004, pour voir enfin le jour industriellement en 2010. Quatorze ans pour mettre sur le march\u00e9 un nouveau proc\u00e9d\u00e9 m\u00e9tallurgique&#8230;ce n&rsquo;est pas si mal. Il repose sur l&rsquo;agglom\u00e9ration et le s\u00e9chage d&rsquo;un m\u00e9lange intime de minerai non grill\u00e9 et de charbon en poudres, puis sur l&rsquo;alimentation d&rsquo;un four rotatif de 60 m\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre, aliment\u00e9 en continu qui permet, selon le principe de la cin\u00e9matique continue, de traiter thermiquement le m\u00e9lange durant les 10 minutes n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 la rotation compl\u00e8te du four (FIG.II).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20120a91358aa970b-pi.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451b18369e20120a91358aa970b \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20120a91358aa970b-450wi.jpg\" alt=\"Kobe-Steel-itmk3_1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cet \u00e9quipement con\u00e7u pour produire 500 mille tonnes de fer par an, est aliment\u00e9 par 102 tonnes de minerai et 32 tonnes de charbon \u00e0 l&rsquo;heure. Pendant ce laps de temps, il produit 69 tonnes de billes de fer (FIG.I) et 16 tonnes de laitier.<\/p>\n<p>Ce type de proc\u00e9d\u00e9 d&rsquo;une grande simplicit\u00e9, au temps de r\u00e9action court qui lui permet un fonctionnement en continu, est appel\u00e9 \u00e0 se d\u00e9velopper aux abords de mines de fer dont l&rsquo;exploitation des minerais trop pauvres en fer ne serait pas possible aujourd&rsquo;hui. D&rsquo;apr\u00e8s Kobe Steel il est en cours d&rsquo;implantation au Kazakhstan, au Vietnam, en Inde et en Ukraine. Une large utilisation de ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 dans le monde conduirait, \u00e0 terme, \u00e0 un complet bouleversement des conditions de march\u00e9 des minerais de fer aux sp\u00e9cifications plus vari\u00e9es et du coke m\u00e9tallurgique devenu en partie inutile.<\/p>\n<p>Il est \u00e0 noter pour ceux qui veulent relancer l&rsquo;innovation dans notre pays pr\u00e9cautionneux que m\u00eame sur des vieilleries comme la production de fer il est possible d&rsquo;avoir des id\u00e9es.
