Puis <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ulb.ac.be\/sciences\/intra\/inforsc_archives\/nrj\/preat.htm\">Drake<\/a> eut l&rsquo;id\u00e9e de forer, un temps on le qualifia de fou, mais il atteint un gisement \u00e0 la profondeur fabuleuse de 17 m\u00e9tres.<br \/>Les premiers forages sont \u00e9vidents : la pression seule fait jaillir le p\u00e9trole, on est dans la production primaire.<br \/>Puis la pression chute, le p\u00e9trole ne jaillit plus. Alors pour continuer \u00e0 r\u00e9cup\u00e9rer le p\u00e9trole, on a invent\u00e9 des tas de techniques. La plus fr\u00e9quemment utilis\u00e9e est d&rsquo;inject\u00e9e de l&rsquo;eau de mer dans le gisement qui remet en pression. L&rsquo;eau de mer chasse le p\u00e9trole, plus l\u00e9ger, c&rsquo;est la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ifp.fr\/IFP\/fr\/ifp\/fb04_01.htm\">production secondaire<\/a>.<br \/>Il n&rsquo;y a \u00e0 l&rsquo;heure actuelle gu\u00e8re de gisement en production primaire. La production continue de progresser avec la production secondaire.<br \/>Puis vient le p\u00e9trole mature. En gros, on r\u00e9colte, en m\u00eame temps que le p\u00e9trole, de plus en plus de &quot;d\u00e9chets&quot;, d&rsquo;eau de mer qu&rsquo;on vient d&rsquo;injecter.
