Les pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes \u00e9tudes \u00e9taient bas\u00e9es sur la vitesse des vents \u00e0 50 m\u00e8tres au dessus du sol. La nouvelle \u00e9tude, prenant en compte les progr\u00e8s accomplis ou pr\u00e9visibles dans la taille des \u00e9oliennes, a d\u00e9termin\u00e9 les ressources potentielles \u00e0 80 m\u00e8tres et \u00e0 100 m\u00e8tres au-dessus du sol. Les r\u00e9sultats sont impressionnants.<\/p>\n<p>Par exemple pour le seul Texas qui est l&#039;Etat am\u00e9ricain le plus avantag\u00e9 en ressource \u00e9olienne, les mesures et calculs conduits estiment les surfaces disponibles pour un facteur de charge des \u00e9oliennes de 40% (identique \u00e0 celui obtenu en offshore en Mer du Nord) \u00e0 165 mille km<sup>2<\/sup> \u00e0 80 m\u00e8tres au-dessus du sol et \u00e0 245 mille km<sup>2<\/sup> \u00e0 100 m\u00e8tres au-dessus du sol. D&#039;apr\u00e8s les calculs th\u00e9oriques du NREL, ces surfaces totalement exploit\u00e9es repr\u00e9senteraient potentiellement des \u00e9nergies \u00e9lectriques respectives annuelles de 3200 TWh et de 4900 TWh. L&#039;Etat du Texas \u00e9quip\u00e9 d&#039;\u00e9oliennes \u00e9rig\u00e9es \u00e0 100 m\u00e8tres au dessus du sol, sur une surface repr\u00e9sentant la moiti\u00e9 de celle de la France, pourrait fournir sur le papier la totalit\u00e9 de l&#039;\u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e annuellement par les Etats-Unis qui est en ce moment de 3900 TWh.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e201310f673226970c-pi.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"USA-wind-speed-80m\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451b18369e201310f673226970c \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e201310f673226970c-450wi.jpg\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Ce m\u00eame calcul conduit sur l&#039;ensemble des 48 Etats \u00e0 des ressources potentielles consid\u00e9rables et qui n&#039;ont que bien peu de sens. Cette \u00e9tude confirme donc que l&#039;\u00e9pine dorsale qui va du Texas au Dakota du Nord (FIG.) peut potentiellement g\u00e9n\u00e9rer une large partie de la ressource \u00e9lectrique des Etats-Unis. Bien s\u00fbr, pour que cela se concr\u00e9tise un jour, il faudrait investir dans un r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique moderne, dans des ressources de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration en support aux \u00e9oliennes au gaz naturel par exemple, dans des moyens de stockage d&#039;\u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique centralis\u00e9s ou d\u00e9centralis\u00e9s en r\u00e9seau. Pour cela, l&#039;Administration devrait mettre en place les conditions \u00e9conomiques et politiques qui assureront des conditions acceptables pour un tel chamboulement et c&#039;est l\u00e0 la principale difficult\u00e9.
