C&rsquo;est une turbine exploitant les courants marins pour produire de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9. Les avantages par rapport \u00e0 leur cousines terrestres -les \u00e9oliennes- sont multiples:<br \/>&#8211; elles sont beaucoup plus petites pour une m\u00eame puissance: (la photo ci-contre montre une \u00e9olienne et une hydrolienne de m\u00eame puissance, \u00e0 la m\u00eame \u00e9chelle), cela \u00e9tant d\u00fb \u00e0 la masse volumique de l&rsquo;eau 800 fois sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle de l&rsquo;air.<br \/>&#8211; les courants marins sont relativement constants ou leurs variations sont facilement pr\u00e9visibles : on peut donc estimer avec pr\u00e9cision la production d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9.<br \/>&#8211; les potentiels des courants marins sont tr\u00e8s importants, EDF estimant par exemple que 3GW (soit environ 3 r\u00e9acteurs nucl\u00e9aires) sont instalable proche des c\u00f4tes fran\u00e7aises.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"style95\"><a href=\"http:\/\/clabedan.typepad.com\/photos\/uncategorized\/buoyanttworotor.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\"  src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/buoyanttworotor.jpg\" alt=\"Buoyanttworotor\" style=\"margin: 0px 0px 5px 5px;float: right\" \/><\/a> TidalStream propose donc ce nouveau concept d&rsquo;hydrolienne, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 valid\u00e9 par des essais dans la Tamise. Des tests ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9s \u00e0 60m de profondeur.<\/p>\n<p>Ce syst\u00e8me est compos\u00e9 d&rsquo;une colonne centrale, verticale, qui peut se remplir d&rsquo;air. La profondeur de l&rsquo;hydrolienne peut donc \u00eatre ma\u00eetris\u00e9e et surtout, elle peut \u00eatre facilement remont\u00e9e \u00e0 la surface en vue de r\u00e9parations (cf illustration ci contre). <br \/>Son installation est tr\u00e8s rapide et facile, comme on peut le voir sur les <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnarmstrong1.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk\/InstallationRemoval.htm\">illustrations de TidalStream<\/a>.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"style95\">Selon TidalStream, ses hydroliennes seront comp\u00e9titives avec les \u00e9oliennes offshore et onshore.
