Il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 mentionn\u00e9 son utilisation pour la r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration d&#039;\u00e9nergie au freinage, comme moyen de stockage par les v\u00e9hicules lourds \u00e0 arr\u00eats fr\u00e9quents, de style benne \u00e0 ordure, propos\u00e9e par Bosch (<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/bosch-joue-lhyb.html_.png\" title=\"Bosch\">LIRE<\/a>). Il est facile de montrer graphiquement que ce mode de stockage est 50% plus efficace que le stockage isotherme obtenu en laissant se dissiper la chaleur de compression de l&#039;air. General Electric est s\u00fbrement le plus avanc\u00e9 aujourd&#039;hui dans l&#039;\u00e9tude des technologies (turbines, compresseurs \u00e0 tr\u00e8s hautes temp\u00e9ratures) n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 la mise en oeuvre de ce mode de stockage de l&#039;\u00e9nergie&#160;dans des r\u00e9servoirs souterrains, creus\u00e9s au sein de gisements de sel. Il existe \u00e0 ce jour deux unit\u00e9s qui utilisent la compression d&#039;air pour stocker l&#039;\u00e9nergie dans des cavernes de sel: la centrale de Huntorf (290MW) \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de Br\u00eame en Allemagne et celle de McHintosh (110MW) dans l&#039;Alabama. Les deux unit\u00e9s utilisent l&#039;air comprim\u00e9 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">pour alimenter une turbine \u00e0 gaz<\/span> qui pr\u00e9sente alors un excellent rendement, le travail de compression de l&#039;air \u00e9tant d\u00e9j\u00e0 fourni. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/clabedan.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d83451b18369e20120a7fbaa40970b-pi\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"CAES-ADELE\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451b18369e20120a7fbaa40970b \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20120a7fbaa40970b-450wi.jpg\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>L&#039;objectif de GE, Z\u00fcblin et RWE, au travers du programme ADELE, est de r\u00e9aliser un stockage par compression d&#039;air quasi adiabatique qui se dispenserait de la turbine \u00e0 gaz. Pour cela, en heure creuse, la chaleur de compression de l&#039;air qui atteint les 600\u00b0C, serait stock\u00e9e dans de grands \u00e9changeurs calorifug\u00e9s dispos\u00e9s en surface contenant des c\u00e9ramiques (FIG. repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s en rouge, les cavernes non repr\u00e9sent\u00e9es sont au dessous de l&#039;installation), l&#039;air arrivant ainsi dans les cavernes sous-terraines \u00e0 40\u00b0C sous une pression max de 70 bars. Lors de la demande de puissance, l&#039;air sous pression en repassant par les \u00e9changeurs, se r\u00e9chauffe \u00e0 nouveau et <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">alimente ainsi directement une turbine sans apport de combustion de gaz naturel<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>GE qui doit fournir la partie compression et turbine, l&#039;allemand Z\u00fcblin responsable des \u00e9changeurs et l&#039;\u00e9lectricien RWE ont sign\u00e9 un accord pour d\u00e9velopper une unit\u00e9 de d\u00e9monstration d&#039;un GWh et de 200 MW de puissance qui pr\u00e9sentera donc une autonomie de 5 heures \u00e0 pleine charge.
