C&#039;est donc un acteur de premier rang dans le monde et qui s&#039;est illustr\u00e9 r\u00e9cemment en proposant sa technologie \u00e0 l&#039;appel d&#039;offre des Emirats Arabes Unis, en comp\u00e9tition avec les candidats japonais et fran\u00e7ais. La production de la vingtaine de r\u00e9acteurs \u00e9lectronucl\u00e9aires sud-cor\u00e9ens en activit\u00e9 sur quatre sites, (17700 MWe), avec une production nette de 144TWh en 2008, a repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 36% de la fourniture d&#039;\u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique du pays. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un plan ambitieux de d\u00e9veloppement 12 tranches suppl\u00e9mentaires (14800 MWe) dont la moiti\u00e9 est en cours de r\u00e9alisation, la Cor\u00e9e du Sud veut porter la part du nucl\u00e9aire dans le mix \u00e9lectrique vers les 50% en 2022. Ce pays qui consomme plus de 3000 tonnes d&#039;uranium par an, a donc besoin de mati\u00e8re fissile pour alimenter ses centrales.<\/p>\n<p>La filiale nucl\u00e9aire KHNP poss\u00e8de d\u00e9j\u00e0&#160;une participation (2,5%) dans l&#039;usine d&#039;enrichissement fran\u00e7aise Georges Besse. La maison m\u00e8re KEPCO a r\u00e9cemment acquis 17% du capital du canadien Denison Mines qui fait partie du TOP 10 des producteurs d&#039;uranium dans le monde. Enfin, AREVA nous informe que KEPCO vient d&#039;entrer indirectement \u00e0 hauteur de 10% dans le capital de la filiale qu&#039;elle a form\u00e9 avec l&#039;Etat nig\u00e9rien pour exploiter la mine d&#039;Imouraren.
