Leur GWP (global warming potential sur 100 ans) serait amplifi\u00e9 par le fait que ces gaz se comportent comme des capteurs de radicaux hydroxyles qui eux m\u00eames oxydent le SO2 en sulfates qui forment des a\u00e9rosols qui rafraichissent notre plan\u00e8te. Plus de m\u00e9thane, moins de radicaux hydroxyles OH\u00b0 et donc moins de sulfates bienfaiteurs. Telle est en r\u00e9sum\u00e9 la th\u00e8se de photochimie plan\u00e9taire support\u00e9e par cette \u00e9tude.<\/p>\n<p>Un observateur un peu critique pourrait avancer deux remarques pour temp\u00e9rer l&#039;impact de ce papier, un de plus tendant \u00e0 renforcer les pr\u00e9visions d&#039;apocalypse. Tout d&#039;abord il pourrait avancer le fait que les teneurs en CH<sub>4<\/sub> dans l&#039;atmosph\u00e8re sont globalement stables (FIG.I). Mais les auteurs de ce papier qui&#160;ont semble-t-il pr\u00e9vu l&#039;objection affirment que ce sont les \u00e9missions de m\u00e9thane qui sont importantes et non pas les teneurs dans l&#039;atmosph\u00e8re. Mais rien n&#039;explique comment les \u00e9missions pourraient cro\u00eetre avec des teneurs stables! <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20120a649fe0e970b-pi.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"M\u00e9thane-1985-2009\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451b18369e20120a649fe0e970b \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogenergie\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20120a649fe0e970b-450wi.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#160;Le deuxi\u00e8me argument porte sur la difficult\u00e9 d&#039;\u00e9valuer pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment les \u00e9missions de m\u00e9thane qui proviennent \u00e0 la fois des activit\u00e9s humaines (exploitation mini\u00e8re, gaz naturel, p\u00e9trole, d\u00e9chets) et des fermentations ana\u00e9robies diverses dans les entrailles des ruminants ou des termites comme dans les champs de riz ou les divers mar\u00e9cages et autres estuaires. La ma\u00eetrise de ces \u00e9missions serait complexe. Enfin les zones humides o\u00f9 le m\u00e9thane est form\u00e9 sont aussi des puits de gaz carbonique.
