C&#039;est une activit\u00e9 pour l&#039;instant essentiellement europ\u00e9enne, mais un certain nombres de projets pourraient \u00e9galement \u00e9merger aux Etats-Unis, bien que dans ce vaste pays, de larges surfaces au sol restent encore disponibles pour l&#039;\u00e9olien terrestre. En Europe par contre la rar\u00e9faction des sites terrestres de bonne qualit\u00e9 pour implanter les \u00e9oliennes, a rapidement incit\u00e9 certains op\u00e9rateurs \u00e0 se lancer dans la complexe aventure offshore. L&#039;offshore pr\u00e9sente deux int\u00e9r\u00eats majeurs: il r\u00e9sout radicalement le probl\u00e8me du foncier et dans les bonnes zones du Nord de l&#039;Europe par exemple, il profite d&#039;un vent qui&#160;souffle l&#039;\u00e9quivalent de 3500 heures par an \u00e0 pleine charge, soit un taux de charge de 40%. Mais cet offshore pr\u00e9sente \u00e9galement pas mal d&#039;inconv\u00e9nients, dont la complexit\u00e9 des installations. Cette complexit\u00e9 r\u00e9side dans trois paragraphes essentiels: 1) fiabilit\u00e9 des \u00e9quipements et maintenance r\u00e9duite, 2) \u00e9quipements de forte puissance pour amortir au maximum les co\u00fbts importants d&#039;installation sur site, 3) n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de ramener \u00e0 terre, parfois sur de longues distances, le courant produit en pleine mer. <\/p>\n<p>&#160;Ce sont ces trois contraintes qui font de ce m\u00e9tier une activit\u00e9 hautement technologique et qui obligent \u00e0 d\u00e9finir un syst\u00e8me global complexe, de l&#039;\u00e9olienne au r\u00e9seau \u00e0 terre. Elle est domin\u00e9e par un leader incontest\u00e9: <strong><span>Siemens<\/span><\/strong>&#160;(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.leblogenergie.com\/2009\/04\/siemens-leader-mondial-des-%C3%A9oliennes-offshore-ne-semble-pas-conna%C3%AEtre-la-crise.html\" title=\"Siemens \u00e9olien offshore\">LIRE<\/a>) qui dispose d&#039;une \u00e9olienne de 3,6 MW et propose \u00e9galement ses technologies pour acheminer en technologie courant continu haute tension (HVDC) le courant de la haute mer vers les terres, o\u00f9 il est ensuite converti en courant alternatif en phase avec celui du r\u00e9seau. Vient loin derri\u00e8re <strong><span>MULTIBRID<\/span><\/strong> qui appartient \u00e0 AREVA et qui propose une \u00e9olienne de 5MW en cours de lancement industriel. Il faut \u00e9galement citer <strong><span>Repower<\/span><\/strong> qui propose une turbine de 5MW dont quelques exemplaires ont \u00e9t\u00e9 implant\u00e9s \u00e0 grands frais sur le champ C-Power en Belgique. Le danois <strong><span>Vestas<\/span><\/strong> \u00e9tait \u00e9galement sur le coup avec sa turbine <strong><span>V90 de 3MW<\/span><\/strong> qui avait rencontr\u00e9 quelques probl\u00e8mes de fiabilit\u00e9 en 2007. Vestas vient juste d&#039;annoncer \u00e0 l&#039;<strong><span>European Offshore Wind Conference<\/span><\/strong> la sortie d&#039;un nouveau mod\u00e8le de turbine optimis\u00e9 pour l&#039;offshore, <strong><span>la V112-3MW<\/span><\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vestas.com\/files\/\/Filer\/EN\/Press_releases\/VWS\/2009\/090914-VWS_PR_UK-08.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Vestas V112 offshore\">LIRE<\/a>).&#160;Enfin en Norv\u00e8ge un petit dernier, <strong><span>ScanWind<\/span><\/strong>, d\u00e9veloppe une nouvelle gamme d&#039;\u00e9oliennes dont le rotor est directement coupl\u00e9 au g\u00e9n\u00e9rateur, ce qui&#160;dispense le syst\u00e8me de la tr\u00e8s grosse bo\u00eete \u00e0 vitesses interm\u00e9diaire qui \u00e9quipe les \u00e9oliennes concurrentes. Cette technologie a d\u00fb plaire au sixi\u00e8me op\u00e9rateur qu&#039;est l&#039;am\u00e9ricain <strong><span>GE<\/span><\/strong>, puisqu&#039;il vient d&#039;acheter ScanWind.
