Cette unit\u00e9 de 29 MW thermiques, implant\u00e9e \u00e0 Coalinga, Californie,&#160;viendra remplacer partiellement une unit\u00e9 de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de vapeur au gaz actuellement en op\u00e9ration. L&#039;ensemble sera compos\u00e9 de 3800 miroirs plats dispos\u00e9s sur une surface de 40 hectares appartenant au p\u00e9trolier qui feront converger le rayonnement solaire sur une tour de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de vapeur d&#039;eau. Il sera op\u00e9rationnel d\u00e8s 2010.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;Ce projet s\u00fbrement tr\u00e8s simple pour BrightSource puisqu&#039;il n&#039;y a pas g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de courant, illustre la compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9 des sources d&#039;\u00e9nergie entre solaire et gaz naturel. Les 2200 heures d&#039;ensoleillement \u00e0 100% qui caract\u00e9risent&#160;la r\u00e9gion, g\u00e9n\u00e8reront une large part de&#160;la vapeur d&#039;eau n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 l&#039;exploitation du gisement de p\u00e9trole californien.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;&#160; Rappelons que BrightSource est plus connu pour avoir sign\u00e9 divers projets de g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de puissance \u00e9lectrique aupr\u00e8s des distributeurs d&#039;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 en Californie ou dans le Colorado (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.leblogenergie.com\/2009\/03\/brightsource-veut-construire-une-usine-solaire-thermique-au-nord-de-las-vegas.html\" title=\"BrightSource\">LIRE<\/a>).
