Ces terres, divis\u00e9es en 24 zones,&#160;sont situ\u00e9es dans les zones arides du Sud-ouest des Etats-Unis, en Californie, Arizona, Colorado, Nouveau Mexique et Utah. Ces zones seront ouvertes \u00e0 des projets solaires de 10 MW ou plus. A terme, affirme Salazar, la puissance install\u00e9e pourrait atteindre&#160; les <strong>100<\/strong> <strong>GW<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Sur la base de <span>2200 heures de plein ensoleillement par an<\/span> dans ces r\u00e9gions d\u00e9sertiques, ce sont <strong>220 TWh<\/strong> d&#039;\u00e9nergie renouvelable qui pourraient \u00eatre produits. Ceci est \u00e0 comparer aux&#160; <strong>4000 TWh<\/strong> d&#039;\u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s annuellement aux Etats-Unis. Sur la base d&#039;un taux de conversion de l&#039;\u00e9nergie solaire de 10% ce sont <span>1000 km2 environ de modules photovolta\u00efques ou de miroirs<\/span> pour la solution thermique qui recouvriraient ces terres, soit un taux d&#039;occupation des sols de 37%.
