{"id":13,"date":"2009-12-10T04:21:13","date_gmt":"2009-12-10T04:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogmoto\/2009\/12\/10\/zen-and-the-art-of-motorcycle-maintenance\/"},"modified":"2012-07-11T17:44:41","modified_gmt":"2012-07-11T17:44:41","slug":"zen-and-the-art-of-motorcycle-maintenance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogmoto\/2009\/12\/10\/zen-and-the-art-of-motorcycle-maintenance\/","title":{"rendered":"Zen and the Art of motorcycle maintenance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogmoto\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20128763eadbf970c-pi.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Zen1\"  class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451b18369e20128763eadbf970c \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogmoto\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20128763eadbf970c-800wi.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px\" \/><\/a> Ce livre a la r\u00e9putation d\u2019\u00eatre difficile, plusieurs en entreprennent la lecture, mais d\u00e8s que le r\u00e9cit de voyage laisse la place au discours philosophique, le lecteur passe dans une autre dimension, comme s\u2019il se retrouvait la t\u00eate sous l\u2019eau, ne remontant vers le r\u00e9cit qu\u2019\u00e9pisodiquement pour une bouff\u00e9e d\u2019air puis replongeant imm\u00e9diatement, d\u2019o\u00f9 un taux d\u2019abdication \u00e9lev\u00e9 apr\u00e8s les premiers chapitres.<br \/>Il est donc pr\u00e9f\u00e9rable d\u2019avoir une certaine exp\u00e9rience des profondeurs pour \u00eatre en mesure d\u2019en appr\u00e9cier toute la \u00ab qualit\u00e9 \u00bb.<br \/>Comme le faisait remarquer l\u2019auteur \u00e0 propos du titre, il s\u2019y retrouve bien peu de Zen dans l\u2019ouvrage, et pas beaucoup plus d\u2019information pratique sur l\u2019entretien de sa moto, mais le titre n\u2019est pas trompeur pour autant.<br \/>Faisant r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 l\u2019ouvrage de Herrigel \u00ab <a href=\"http:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Le_Zen_dans_l%27art_chevaleresque_du_tir_%C3%A0_l%27arc\">Le Zen dans l\u2019art chevaleresque du tir \u00e0 l\u2019arc<\/a> \u00bb, o\u00f9 pour atteindre sa cible, deux oppos\u00e9s doivent trouver l\u2019harmonie, c&#039;est-\u00e0-dire la tension de l\u2019arc et la d\u00e9contraction de l\u2019archer, <a href=\"http:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robert_M._Pirsig\">Robert M. Pirsig<\/a> met en sc\u00e8ne deux approches, deux personnalit\u00e9s, la romantique et la classique.<\/p>\n<p> Ici, le romantisme est assez \u00e9loign\u00e9 de celui de Stendhal, et s\u2019il y a soupir, c\u2019est par exasp\u00e9ration devant l\u2019adversit\u00e9 du quotidien venant perturber la recherche d\u2019un bonheur tranquille. De son c\u00f4t\u00e9, le classique tente de rationaliser ces m\u00eames \u00e9v\u00e8nements du quotidien, scrutant, questionnant, y soutirant le plaisir cach\u00e9 dans sa connaissance. Prendre une autre discipline, on pourrait dire que le romantique et le classique de Pirsig g\u00e8rent leur stress de fa\u00e7on oppos\u00e9, l\u2019un, le romantique, par la fuite, le classique, par l\u2019action.<br \/>L\u2019auteur et le personnage du roman sont enclin vers l\u2019action, cherchant dans l\u2019intellectualisation du geste un bien-\u00eatre qu\u2019il nomme qualit\u00e9. Le danger de la fuite, c\u2019est la frustration, celui de l\u2019action, c\u2019est l\u2019obsession, danger que l\u2019auteur ne sut pas \u00e9viter dans sa poursuite de la qualit\u00e9. D\u00e9pression, schizophr\u00e9nie, \u00e9lectrochoc en institution, le Robert Pirsig romancier, car Zen est un roman, est bien diff\u00e9rent du Robert Pirsig d\u2019avant la maladie. Le livre est aussi une tentative de r\u00e9conciliation entre l\u2019ancien Robert, nomm\u00e9 Phaedrus dans le livre, et celui qui parcourt les \u00c9tats-Unis au guidon de sa vieille Honda avec son jeune fils. Zen aurait pu \u00eatre intitul\u00e9 \u00ab Le troisi\u00e8me homme \u00bb, ou \u00ab L\u2019homme de qualit\u00e9 \u00bb (clin d\u2019\u0153il \u00e0 l\u2019un de mes pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9s, <a href=\"http:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/L%27Homme_sans_qualit%C3%A9s\">L\u2019Homme sans qualit\u00e9<\/a> de Musil), puisque le personnage du livre cherche \u00e0 concilier l\u2019homme qu\u2019il \u00e9tait, et qui fut effac\u00e9 de sa m\u00e9moire, et celui qu\u2019il est maintenant, cela sous les yeux de son fils qui a connu les deux hommes, et qui regrette souvent le premier.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/clabedan.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d83451b18369e20120a73bd114970b-popup\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Zen2\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d83451b18369e20120a73bd114970b \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogmoto\/files\/2012\/07\/6a00d83451b18369e20120a73bd114970b-500wi.jpg\" style=\"width: 470px\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Zen est un plaidoyer pour le plaisir de la connaissance et de la r\u00e9compense qu\u2019elle offre apr\u00e8s les efforts pour l\u2019apprivoiser. Qui aujourd\u2019hui prend encore le temps de lire le manuel de l\u2019utilisateur de sa moto? On se fait dire de rentrer sa machine pour le premier service apr\u00e8s tant de kilom\u00e8tres, et si on oublie, ils vont nous le rappeler, deux fois plut\u00f4t qu\u2019une. On paye cher, c\u2019est de la haute technologie, on n\u2019ose pas trop y toucher, de peur que \u00e7a nous co\u00fbte encore plus cher, alors, on se retrouve oblig\u00e9 de faire confiance \u00e0 un m\u00e9canicien pour qui, notre moto n\u2019est qu\u2019une autre moto, esp\u00e9rant que pour ce dernier, notre moto ne soit pas la moto de trop, celle qui sera n\u00e9glig\u00e9e parce que pour ce m\u00e9cano, la notion de qualit\u00e9, il ne l\u2019applique peut-\u00eatre pas \u00e0 son travail, dans sa vie on le lui souhaite, mais cela demande des efforts, de la volont\u00e9 et de l\u2019abandon devant le travail, quel qu\u2019il soit, et ce, \u00e0 chaque instant, pour chaque geste, chaque pens\u00e9e.
