Les &quot;roadsters&quot; se nommaient encore <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leblogmoto.com\/2005\/09\/triumph_scrambl.html\">&quot;basics&quot;<\/a> et les scooters \u00e9taient r\u00e9serv\u00e9s aux jeunes pub\u00e8res si ce n&rsquo;est aux nostalgiques de la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leblogmoto.com\/2005\/11\/piaggio_vespa_p.html\">Vespa<\/a>. La t\u00e2che de la PC 800 s&rsquo;apparentait \u00e0 une mission suicide&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/clabedan.typepad.com\/.shared\/image.html?\/photos\/uncategorized\/pc800_b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"192\" alt=\"Pc800_b\" src=\"http:\/\/www.leblogmoto.com\/images\/pc800_b.jpg\" width=\"250\"  \/><\/a>Les feux de l&rsquo;ironie se concentr\u00e8rent sur cette machine \u00e0 l&rsquo;esth\u00e9tique avant-gardiste. Affubl\u00e9e de sobriquets de toutes sortes, elle fut syst\u00e9matiquement tois\u00e9e par un milieu aux oeill\u00e8res bien fix\u00e9es. Tout le monde passa \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l&rsquo;essentiel: la Pacific Coast \u00e9tait une une excellente machine annonciatrice d&rsquo;un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne qui allait par la suite s&rsquo;amplifier: l&rsquo;imbrication progressive entre le monde <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leblogmoto.com\/2005\/12\/_du_dbut_des_an.html\">auto et moto<\/a>, soit l&rsquo;ouverture du march\u00e9 \u00e0 une nouvelle client\u00e8le, \u00e0 un nouveau type de motard, moins passionn\u00e9 mais plus pragmatique. La Pacific Coast \u00e9tait per\u00e7ue comme une honteuse ex-croissance. Il s&rsquo;agissait, en fait, d&rsquo;une v\u00e9ritable t\u00eate de pont&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/clabedan.typepad.com\/.shared\/image.html?\/photos\/uncategorized\/pc800_c.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"187\" alt=\"Pc800_c\" src=\"http:\/\/www.leblogmoto.com\/images\/pc800_c.jpg\" width=\"250\"  \/><\/a>800 cm3, 2 cylindres en V \u00e0 45\u00b0, transmission par cardan, 60 ch \u00e0 7 000 tr\/mn, couple de 7 mkg \u00e0 5 500 tr\/mn, 262 kg, ces donn\u00e9es n&rsquo;annoncent gu\u00e8re un foudre de guerre: 183 km\/h, le 0 \u00e0 100 en 6 secondes. Mais une protection du pilote totale, et, surtout, un \u00e9tonnant coffre, enthousiasmant et idoine pour celui qui vit avec sa machine tous les jours. Reste que la mayonnaise ne prend pas. HONDA cesse sa distribution dans l&rsquo;hexagone en 1993 et la production en 1998. 15 000 exemplaires en auront \u00e9t\u00e9 vendus.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Ceux qui ont choisi de franchir le pas se sont f\u00e9licit\u00e9s de la maintenance r\u00e9duite et de la fiabilit\u00e9 exemplaire de la PC 800. Les machines acceptent la barre des 100 000 kms sans broncher. Et aujourd&rsquo;hui, l&rsquo;\u00e9volution du march\u00e9, qui fait la part belle aux gros scooters, d\u00e9montre le bien fond\u00e9 de la d\u00e9marche de HONDA.
