{"id":288,"date":"2009-02-05T03:58:14","date_gmt":"2009-02-05T03:58:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogmoto\/2009\/02\/05\/matchles-g80-pa\/"},"modified":"2012-07-11T17:03:38","modified_gmt":"2012-07-11T17:03:38","slug":"matchles-g80-pa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogmoto\/2009\/02\/05\/matchles-g80-pa\/","title":{"rendered":"Matchless G80 par Les Harris"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogmoto\/files\/2012\/07\/match1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"470\" height=\"652\"  alt=\"Match1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.leblogmoto.com\/images\/2009\/02\/04\/match1.jpg\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Alors que Honda s\u2019appr\u00eate \u00e0 lancer sa CB750 qui aura (pour celles qui roulent encore) 40 ans cette ann\u00e9e, en une version moderne mais n\u00e9anmoins nostalgique en la <a href=\"http:\/\/thekneeslider.com\/archives\/2008\/01\/17\/honda-cb1100f-going-into-production\/\">CB1100F<\/a>, je vous propose un autre classique, la Matchless G80 de Les Harris.<\/p>\n<p>Un peu d\u2019histoire d\u2019abord, car <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Matchless\">Matchless<\/a>, une des plus anciennes marques britanniques, la premi\u00e8re moto \u00e0 sortir de l\u2019usine le fit en 1901, est au m\u00eame titre que Triumph, BSA et Norton, une incontournable du style british.<\/p>\n<p>La famille Collier, c&rsquo;est le p\u00e8re Henry Herbert et ses deux fils Charlie et Harry puis, le cadet Bert qui mettra au point un 4 cylindres en V de 593 cm3, r\u00e9volutionnaire pour l\u2019\u00e9poque (1931).<br \/>La Morgan, ce 3 roues si typique avec son V-Twin comme calandre sera propuls\u00e9 exclusivement par un Matchless \u00e0 partir de 1935.<br \/>En 1941, Matchless introduira la fourche t\u00e9lescopique, nomm\u00e9e Teledraulic, une avanc\u00e9e majeure \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, et toujours aussi appr\u00e9ci\u00e9e aujourd\u2019hui.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/clabedan.typepad.com\/.shared\/image.html?\/photos\/uncategorized\/2009\/02\/04\/match2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"470\" height=\"253\"  alt=\"Match2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.leblogmoto.com\/images\/2009\/02\/04\/match2.jpg\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Pendant la Seconde Guerre, la compagnie produira plus de 80,000 motos, principalement les mod\u00e8les G3 et G3L \u00e0 fourche Teledraulic. L\u2019apr\u00e8s-guerre verra l\u2019introduction du mod\u00e8le qui nous int\u00e9resse, le G80, un 500 cm3 d\u00e9riv\u00e9 du G3 ayant fait la guerre. Ce Roadster agile, confortable, \u00e9conomique et fiable, toutes des qualit\u00e9s qu\u2019auront les Japonaises causant sa perte moins de 20 ans plus tard, ne r\u00e9sistera donc pas \u00e0 l\u2019invasion malgr\u00e9 une alliance avec Norton, et ne verra pas les ann\u00e9es 70.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/leblogmoto\/files\/2012\/07\/match3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"470\" height=\"252\"  alt=\"Match3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.leblogmoto.com\/images\/2009\/02\/04\/match3.jpg\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Arrive Les Harris, un passionn\u00e9 avec la volont\u00e9 de ne pas laisser se dilapider le grand h\u00e9ritage britannique. Au milieu des ann\u00e9es 80, il sera celui qui remettra la Bonneville sur la carte et dans le c\u0153ur des amateurs. Son atelier en produira plus de 1000 r\u00e9pliques en quelques ann\u00e9es, \u00e9tant ainsi, pour une bonne part, \u00e0 l\u2019origine de la renaissance de Triumph.<br \/>Apr\u00e8s le succ\u00e8s de ses Bonneville, il se lancera dans l\u2019aventure de la G80, puisqu\u2019il avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 acquis auparavant le nom Matchless. Avec l\u2019appui du designer Brian Jones, un ancien de Triumph justement, ils porteront en moins d\u2019un an le projet de la table a dessin \u00e0 la cha\u00eene de production. Ce tr\u00e8s court laps de temps avait bien une raison, une moto des plus simplissime.<br \/>L\u00e9g\u00e8re \u00e0 150 kilos, un monocylindre Rotax de 494 cm3, bo\u00eete \u00e0 5 rapports, cadre \u00e0 simple berceau et r\u00e9servoir de 15 litres. En option sont le d\u00e9marreur \u00e9lectrique et un deuxi\u00e8me disque de frein \u00e0 l\u2019avant.<br \/>Rien de spectaculaire chez ces 860 machines produites, sauf un suppl\u00e9ment d&rsquo;\u00e2me pour une moto mont\u00e9e par des mains expertes d&rsquo;artisans enthousiastes et fiers. Et le plus beau de l&rsquo;affaire est que cet amalgame de pi\u00e8ces disparates, dont plusieurs Italiennes comme <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paioli.com\/eng\/index.html\">Paioli<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brembo.com\/ENG\/Motorcycle-Brakes\/\">Brembo<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dellorto.fr\/\">Dell&rsquo;Orto<\/a> et <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laverda.it\/\">Laverda<\/a>, r\u00e9ussisse en fin de compte \u00e0 f\u00e9d\u00e9rer la quintessence du style britannique.
