So a group of students from North Carolina State University have had the idea to build a wooden supercar. Purpose is to explore the use of new materials in the automotive industry and you won&#8217;t remain stony-faced. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/petrol-head\/files\/2012\/07\/splinterhl1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Splinterhl\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.thesocialmedia.com\/petrol-head\/files\/2012\/07\/splinterhl.jpg\" width=\"470\" height=\"352\"  style=\"float: left;margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px\" \/><\/a><br \/> Dubbed Splinter, the supercar features a wooden platform on which are assembled various components made in part of wood such as the suspension or the alloy wheels. The car is powered by a Cadillac Northstar V8 engine. With the help of two superchargers, it pumps out 600bhp.
